Much of the production line is automated, as such, not many staff needs to be in the production line, only has 2800 employees overall. They are the only supplier factory that transports the product to other city, only 30% of the customers are overses.

The four main ingredients used for the brewing are Hop (啤酒花), Malt (麦芽), Barley (大麦) and Rice (大米). The company gets imports Malt mainly from Canada.
In order to attract more customers, they invented alot of different kinds of beers to cater to different perferences customers for example lower alcohol drinker prefer the lower alcohol beers. This is also their future plans to attract more foreign investors to purchase the products.

After lunch, we had a talk with Mr Nee the regional director for International Enterprise Singapore 新加坡国家发展局.

The main focus of IE Singapore is to help Singapore company to get ready to go out of Singapore, expanding their business, as Singapore itself is too small a market. There are 500 staffs, 37 offices where 7 offices are located within China itself. Mr Nee mentioned that in order to set up a business in China, a lot of research has to be done to ensure which city is best for the business, criteria like infrastructure, government, culture has to be considered for. Different city has different government policy, for less developed city 'Guanxi' is very important. Guang Dong is the most open-minded market in China.

What are the factors that attract investors to China? They are big market, Quality of labour, cheaper labour( labours from rural area are willling to serve the city for lower salaries) and value Chain(material could be obtain within boundary).

Some quotes that Mr Nee mentioned

" Relationship is not important, strength is the main factor. Guanxi is an enhancement."

" Attitude is more important to be sucessful."

I believe those who like to setup businessess in China should keep those quotes in mind as it would be very helpful to survive in China environment.

The talk with Mr Nee was very fruitful, we were able to get to know about doing business in China and also because there wasn't any problem with communication.

After the Talk, we proceed to the Wholesale Market. We were all looking forward for it and anticipating to get something cheap there after our tour guide, Mr Yao, told us how to bargain and stuff on the way there. However, when we got there it was a total disappointmet. As it was wholesales market, we could only get things at a cheaper price if we buy in bulk. We attempted to bargain the stuff we wanted but failed in the end. While walking around the market, we also realise that when there are good business opportunities for them, they would close their stall and cover it with a curtain, avoiding anyone to see what they are doing inside.

The trip there taught us a lesson. When there is business opportunities, the sales person would grab the opportunities. When there isn't any, they can simply ignore you.
